  • Review all of the categories available and determine which are appropriate for your business.
  • Read the entry criteria by clicking on the category title below and ensure that you understand what the judges will be looking for.
  • Ensure you save and address the specific judges’ criteria outlined against each category.
  • It is important every question is answered and includes as much detail as possible.
  • Keep each entry to no more than two pages of A4 and include as many relevant facts and figures to support your submission as possible (testimonials, percentages, sales figures).
  • A clear description will give the judges a clear idea of the business and what it has done to achieve success.

For the most outstanding business in the District. Open to businesses with more than £1m turnover; typically those that have a significant number of local staff and are key influencers in the local community.

Category Criteria

Small Business of the Year sponsored by Swindells

This award is open to any business that is regarded as a beacon in the area, which has a turnover of less than £1 million and has been trading for at least two years. It might be viewed as setting an example to the wider business community and will have achieved both local, and possibly wider recognition.

  • Please provide valuable evidence of why your business should be ‘Small Business of the Year’?

For outstanding achievement by an individual. The award is open to any businessperson who is based in, or conducts most of its business from the Lewes District. Directors, owners, managers and sole traders are all eligible.
