Tourist Destination of the Year – sponsored by Visit Lewes
This category is open to businesses or organisations that offer an excellent Cultural, Leisure or Tourism service to visitors. The judges are looking for a place or business that enriches the area and helps to make Lewes District a great destination to visit and live in.
Homelink Business in the Community – sponsored by Homelink
The Award recognises the important role a business plays in its local community. It seeks to identify those companies who are doing most to develop initiatives which give something back to the community.
Micro Business of the Year
This award celebrates the contribution of the District’s smaller businesses to the local economy and is open to any business with five or less employees. This includes sole traders, freelancers and consultants.
Businessperson of the Year
For outstanding achievement by an individual. The award is open to any businessperson who is based in the Lewes District. Directors, owners, managers and sole traders are all eligible.
Best Green Business
This award is open to any business within the District that is focused on helping it become a greener area. It is open to all types of business from commercial, to community interest to the voluntary sector – as well as individuals.
Best Independent Retailer
Awarded to an independent retailer who offers an individual, innovative and exemplary customer service experience.The business is greatly loved and supported by local shoppers and provides Lewes District with an element of quality and uniqueness which is worthy of special recognition and local accolade. Franchises and multiples are not permitted to enter unless their headquarters are in the Lewes District.
Not-For-Profit Business of the Year
The judges are looking for third sector businesses (charities, social enterprises, other not-for-profit organisations, etc) driven by social or environmental aims that have set clear objectives, met or exceeded expectations and forecasts, demonstrated tangible evidence of success and have a clear and compelling vision for the future.
Best Customer Service
For the business most successfully demonstrating quality customer service. This Award is open to all businesses that can effectively demonstrate how the service that is offered is to an impeccable standard to each and every customer.
SME Business of the Year
This Award is open to businesses with an annual turnover between £500,000 and £5 million which are at least three years old and have an operational base in the Lewes District. This company should demonstrate a healthy financial performance and a strategic plan for growth.
Professional Services Award
This award recognises businesses in the private professional sector (accountants, architects, solicitors, lawyers, financial services, education etc.) who provide quality service, unrivalled expertise and deliver a market leading service to its customers.
Employer of the Year
This Award is open to employers of any size or type in the Lewes District who have achieved excellence in providing an environment where employees can develop their full potential, achieve outstanding success for the business and really thrive! You are welcome to support your application with staff testimonials.
Start-Up of the Year
This Award aims to recognise promising new start-up businesses looking to make their mark on the sector in which they operate, illustrate fast-growth and have ambitious plans for the future. Entrants must have been trading for at least six months and for no longer than three years.
Creative Industries Award
This award is for businesses which operate in the creative and digital sectors. This includes those in digital and graphic design, online marketing, advertising, PR, photography, film, video-making, music, theatre, publishers, craft makers, artists and related sectors.
